We all want to start 2019 out on the best foot possible, so we’d better make sure that foot is impeccably dressed. Unless you’ve got extravagant plans in a faraway palace with secret royal friends, it can be tough to know exactly how to dress without resembling a grade school craft project where they only let you use glue, sequins, and glitter.
They key is to add in bits of sparkle throughout the outfit without drowning the whole look, and making sure the other pieces are full of texture and vitality. We came up with five examples with just the right amount of glimmer and glamour, and not a disco ball in sight.
Like wearing a tiara, but without literally wearing a tiara, adding in a big chunk of twinkle to your hair makes a statement without making a scene. A metallic bag swinging at the hemline of a bright velvet dress adds some serious armor to this big red teddy bear of an ensemble. Plus, you can literally never go wrong with OTK black suede boots, that’s the rule.
Not quite brave enough to commit to some blinged out nails, but fancy a spot of sparkle around the hands? A constellation-inspired boxy handbag should do the trick, especially when paired with some wild, organically-shaped dangling metallic earrings. Even though the rest of the outfit isn’t reflective, the satin and faux fur add a luxurious element to the look.
Like we said, faux fur makes us feel chic, especially when paired with a sassy studded skirt and sheer mesh top run through with metallic thread. Don’t worry, there’s even more sparkle where that came from – glittery tights pair perfectly with partly transparent and bedazzled pumps. Because we should add at least a pop of color into 2019, throw on a bright bag with yet another dash of flickering flair to really send off 2018 with a bang.
A real new year’s party is all about the dancing, so bring out some bling for your feet and move them to that rockin’ beat. These glitzy boots were made for dancin’, and they look fantastic with a lightly studded velvet romper. Add in a big colorful coat, some earrings that don’t take themselves too seriously, and an envelope clutch that’s criss-crossed in beads, and you’ve got yourself a statement look.
If you just can’t resist covering yourself in sequins, opt for a dress that uses them in a color other than silver or gold, like the sweet black option above. A heart-shaped bag and some dusty pink heels keep this option uber feminine, while a bold green ring and long coat trimmed with (more) faux fur will make you the envy of every fashionable flapper in history.
